Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2012

Echigo-Tsumari Triennial 2012 was held successfully. During the time between  8th July and 1st August, Sense Art Studio and 38 Hong Kong Kohebi-Tai members came to Tokamachi, and worked with the artists and volunteers who came from different parts of the world. We all have the same goal -- to exert ourselves in this triennial to enhance the revitalizing project of Echigo-Tsumari region.

Kohebi-Tai members had different kinds of work everyday, including carpentry, painting, cleaning, porterage, weeding, and designing. After having delicious breakfast made by local volunteers, work was distributed. Volunteers needed to visit different workplaces to finish their work until sunset. Every effort paid by the Hong Kong volunteers, was aimed to activate the fields and communication between people inside the region.

Despite leading the Hong Kong Kohebi-Tai, Sense Art Studio also established the East Asia Art Centre – Dragon Café in Tsunan area. Visitors could gather and share ideas over a drink or a meal. Dragon Café also organized a performance of fire dragon in the local opening of the triennial. We are proud to invite Dragon Master, Mr. Ng Kong Lam and his team, to bring the fire dragon from Pokfulam village in Hong Kong to Uwano community in Japan, in order to offer blessings to the local residents. No matter they are Chinese or Japanese, people could get in touch with each other, and share the joyful moments together in the performance.
